1) Anda Mira Cave: Inside this small cave, you'll find the water spring, which feeds the ponds of the lower part. Is perfect for a fresh swim.

2) Guija Lake: This is a good recommendation for boat rides, swim, or hikes on the shore. This lake is located over the limit line between El Salvador and Guatemala. A third part of the lake belongs to Guatemala and the rest to El Salvador.

3) Jiote Beach: Is a beach of volcanic sand with palm trees, mangrove swamp and a series of private small ranchos, that all together form a rare beauty, perfect for bird watching, sport fishing and boat rides, you can visit the village of Las Lisas, which is at the sea shore.

4) Mountain-climbing: In the department of Jutiapa is possible to make mountain-climbing activities of low impact, since the volcanoes are no taller than 1800 mts above sea level. A good recommendation is the volcanoes: Chingo, Moyuta, Culma, Viboras and Amayo.

  • Tourism:

1) San Luis Jilotepeque. This town is distinguished because of the pottery production, they use the dark clay, sand, red engobe and the limestone. The most popular designs are the flowers, animals and geometrical figures. Today some pottery are used with oil paint instead of the traditional natural paint, this is because of the development of this place, they admit that the import colors give a most precise and colorful tone.

2) Del Hoyo Lagoon: This lagoon is located at the Tahual volcano, which is very important because it provides municipium of Monjas with water, is also a tourist attraction of the region.

3) Los Chorros and Agua Tibia Watering places : located at the municipium of San Pedro Pinula, these watering places have pools and an adequate infrastructure for picnics.

4) Los Achiotes Laggon and Jumay Volcano: This small lagoon is a tourist attraction for the region because of the easy access to it. Jumay volcano of 2176 mts above sea level represents an alternative for mountain activities.

5) San Jose Pinula / Mataquescuintla route. This is a terraceria (off-road) road in good conditions where you can admire the beautiful landscapes of pines, mountains and volcanoes. It is 50 kms route between San Jose Pinula and mataquescuintla, is a typical town of the eastern region of the country and could reach up to Miramundo Hill.

6) Miramundo Hill. This paradisiacal region of this department is at 2,3000 mts over sea level and is without a question, the perfect place to practice eco-tourism. Two ecological parks are located here, these parks have paths that lead you to rivers, waterfalls and springs. Is perfect also for birds watching inside the luxuriant forests.

1) Monterrico and Monterrico Natural Reserve of Multiple Uses: In the village of Monterrico you will find restaurants, beaches, regional culture and at Monterrico Natural Reserve of Multiple Uses you will find regional vegetation, wild life (fish, reptiles, birds, mammals), you will also find in Monterrico the agrarian-tourism, protected areas of multiple uses, humid soils, maritime coasts, eco-tourism, estuary.

2) Las Lisas: Is the name of a small village at the shore of the pacific coast where the population has fishing as their main economic activity. His beaches are considered as the best along the pacific littoral.

3) Ixpaco Lagoon. This lagoon is one the craters of the Tecuamburro volcano. Its thermal light green water is famous because of the medicinal effect, because its high-level content of sulfur is a benefit for the skin.

4) El Pino Lagoon: Is perfect for walking or biking along its shore, which a great part of it is forest. Is also possible to take boat rides in small paddle boats.

5) Ayarza Lagoon: This lagoon is considered in extinction (14 square km.) and represents a challenge for those who have to cross it to get to Casillas route. You will need a 4X4 car if you want to get to the shore of the lagoon. The ride is beautiful because of the landscapes and the lagoon deserves the adventure.
