The republic of Guatemala is located on the northern part of the central american isthmus. Is bounded in the north and west by the republic of Mexico; in the south by the pacific ocean; in the east by Belize, the atlantic ocean and the republics of Honduras and El Salvador. It is included between the parallel of 13° 44' y 18° 30' north latitude and between the meridians 87° 24' y 92° 14', at the east of the Greenwich meridian.

It has an approximate extension of 108,889 kms; similar to the territory of New York and Portugal. It has 540 kms from north to south and 429 kms from east to west. It has two seasons during the year, the rainy season, known as winter and the dry season known as summer. It has a diverse climate depending on the topography; therefore, the climate can go from template to very cold. It is distributed into 8 regions, 22 departments and 332 municipiums.
